Sabres vs. Lightning
These are two teams going in totally different directions, with one losers of four straight games with likely trades in the horizon, and the other coming in as one the hottest teams in the NHL after making a blockbuster last night.
At home, with Andrei Vasilevskiy (who has been the hottest goalie in hockey since the break) i think Tampa Bay takes care of business today. The Lightning are winners of nine of their last 10 games and they covered this line in eight of those nine wins.
Meanwhile the Sabres are losers of four straight, failing to cover 1.5 in three of those four games and coming off a home embarrassment against the league-worst San Jose Sharks.
I think the Lightning with their new improvements role today and keep their hot streak going.
Pick: Lightning -1.5 (+105)
Jets vs. Flyers
The Winnipeg Jets and the Philadelphia Flyers will meet on Broad Street tonight.
Winnipeg has posted a record of 42-16-4. That strong record places the Jets first in the Western Conference.
The Jets hold a commanding eight-point lead in the conference. Left winger Kyle Connor leads the team with 31 goals and 45 assists.
The Flyers begin the contest with a 27-27-8 record. Philly has stayed in the playoff mix, trialing the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference by five games.
The Flyers defeated the Jets 2-1 in overtime on Saturday. Travis Konecny leads the team with 22 goals and 41 assists.
Tonight is a great opportunity for the Jets to bounce back after losing three consecutive games. Winnipeg has been outstanding as a favorite this season, with a record of 35-12.
The Flyers have struggled as betting underdogs all year (14-29).
Winnipeg ranks third in the NHL in goals per game and has the top-ranked power play in hockey. The Jets' high-flying offense will come back to life and be too much for the Flyers to slow down tonight.
Philly has struggled to generate offense all season and goes up against the best defense in the NHL tonight.
