Red Wings vs. Wild Preview

After beating the Red Wings 4-3 in overtime on Saturday, I think it’s a good time to fade the Minnesota Wild.

First off, let’s look at all the demoralizing factors going against the Wild here: Kirill Kaprizov’s injury timeline has increased, Ryan Hartman just got suspended for eight games, and Filip Gustavsson is making his first start after getting pulled and benched in the 4 Nations Face-Off.

The Red Wings outplayed the Wild at even strength on Saturday, Cam Talbot just had an awful game. I see things going differently with the Wild at home.

Gustavsson should draw the start after Marc-Andre Fleury played on Saturday. Gustavsson had a hot start but has been struggling since the start of December.

Gustavsson’s home numbers have been down all year with a .907 SV% and 3.05 GAA. Not to mention, his home penalty kill numbers are near the bottom of the league.

Gustavsson owns a .816 SV%, and .737 high danger save %, which ranks 28th out of 34 goalies who have played at least 50 mins on the penalty kill at home this season.

This is bad news considering the Red Wings have the second best powerplay and the Wild have the third worst penalty kill.

Red Wings vs. Wild Prediction

If the Red Wings can play the same game at even strength as they did on Saturday, I’d find it hard to see the Wild overcome the Wings in this one for a second straight game.

I like the Red Wings here and will be betting them on the moneyline at plus money.

Best Bet: Red Wings Moneyline
