San Jose Sharks vs. Vancouver Canucks NHL Preview
By Andy MacNeil
Vancouver missed the playoffs just one year after winning the Pacific Division, meaning things didn’t go as planned.
While changes are likely coming in the offseason, forward Jake DeBrusk has established himself as a key piece for the future. The 28-year-old set a new career high in points with 47 in 80 games this season and is just one goal shy of a new career best.
DeBrusk has scored 27 goals so far this season — his first with the Canucks — marking the fourth time in his career he’s reached 25 or more in a single campaign. He leads all Vancouver forwards with 168 shots on goal and has paced the team in that category since Nov. 1.
Even though the Canucks have nothing left to play for, DeBrusk does, and Monday’s matchup against San Jose presents a good opportunity for him to go after it.
The Sharks rank 31st in shots and shot attempts against per 60 minutes this season, and no team has allowed more expected goals against. Additionally, the Sharks have allowed 34.1 shots on goal per game over their last 10 outings.
With DeBrusk riding a three-game scoring streak, there’s plenty of incentive to back him to register three or more shots on goal at +135 odds or better.
Best Bet: Jake DeBrusk Over 2.5 Shots on Goal
