Utah Hockey Club vs. Nashville Predators NHL Preview
By Andy MacNeil
Although the Utah Hockey Club fell short of reaching the playoffs in their inaugural season, there were plenty of positives to build on from 2024–25.
Captain Clayton Keller had a strong year, finishing with 27 goals and 85 points. Sophomore Logan Cooley continued to build on his impressive rookie campaign, and goaltender Karel Vejmelka ranked in the top 10 in goals saved above expected among netminders who faced at least 1,500 unblocked shot attempts.
Arguably the most encouraging development, however, was the emergence of Dylan Guenther as a true top-line forward. Despite being limited to 68 games due to injury, Guenther still tied Keller for the team lead in goals and has quickly become Utah’s go-to shooter.
His 2.96 shots per game led the team, and only Alex Ovechkin and Filip Forsberg recorded more shot attempts per 60 minutes this season.
The 22-year-old registered three or more shots in 39 of his 68 games and has been especially aggressive down the stretch. Over his last 19 games, he’s hit the three-shot mark 14 times — including a recent three-game stretch where he fired 14 shots, highlighted by a six-shot effort against the Predators.
Best Bet: Dylan Guenther Over 2.5 Shots on Goal
