Across his last seven starts, he's posted a 7.12 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP in which he's had major problems walking batters and with the long ball. The Blue Jays have gone just 1-4 in his last five games, and in each of those Bassitt has given up at least one home run, while in three he has allowed five or more earned runs, including a rough outing against the A's where he surrendered seven runs. On the other side, Justin Steele has been in scorching form for the Cubs. Through the season, Steele has an ERA of 3.16 with a WHIP of 1.11; in his last seven starts, he's allowed two earned runs or fewer five times. At Wrigley Field over the last eight home games, the Cubs are 6-2. It's also worth noting that Toronto has struggled against lefties in the past month, as has its bullpen with a 5.14 ERA over its last 10 games. With the current form of both pitchers and teams, the Cubs are very well positioned to capitalize on Bassitt's struggles.
