Follow On X: https://x.com/PicksOffice Recent form has Chris Bassitt as good of an option on the mound for Toronto. In three starts so far this month, Bassitt has accumulated a 1.08 WHIP and 4.08 ERA; thus, he's featured better control and run prevention skills in that time than his seasonal numbers have shown. His 1.34 WHIP and 4.27 ERA for the season further indicate that he's been good to this point, especially in comparison to the struggling Tyler Phillips of the Phillies. Phillips takes the mound with a less-than-desirable overall ERA of 5.50 and a WHIP of 1.22, but it's his form over the last little while that's really the differentiator-and not in a good way. Over his last three games, Phillips has been hammered, wearing a fat 13.91 ERA and a WHIP of 2.27, signaling clear inability to limit damage and control baserunners. The added confidence comes from Bassitt having a home ERA of 4.21 supported by a WHIP of 1.41 against him. On the other hand, Phillips gives up an ERA of 7.02 on the road and his WHIP is at 1.38 in support to show he is most vulnerable away from home. Also, Bassitt's ERA of 4.90 in night games well surpasses Phillips' 7.65 ERA under the lights. That is to say, based on these statistics, the starting pitching matchup mostly favors Toronto. It's the Toronto bullpen that really tips the scales in their favor. Over their last three games, the Blue Jays' bullpen has an incredible WHIP of 0.67 and an ERA of 1.21, while the Phillies have an ERA of 3.07 this season for their relievers; moreover, their recent misfortune points out a big advantage for Toronto late in the game. Making things even tougher on the Phillies, they have been ice-cold at the plate against right-handed pitching, putting up a collective .182 batting average over their last five contests. This poor streak against right-handers boosts the edge for Bassitt and the Blue Jays in this matchup. Additionally, the Blue Jays are 9-2 in their last 11 interleague home games, with the implication that they elevate to these affairs. With all of those factors in its favor—strong recent pitching from Bassitt, the struggles of Phillips, an ineffective Phillies offense against right-handers, a dominant bullpen—the Blue Jays are well-positioned to take a win tonight.

Follow On X: https://x.com/PicksOffice Recent form from Chris Bassitt suggests he can be reliable, especially with his WHIP of 1.08 over his last three starts, indicating strong control. His home ERA of 4.21 is a bit higher but still in line for a pitcher capable of keeping runs minimal. While that is higher, it's not enough to project a budding Phillies offensive explosion which has struggled against right-handers, hitting just .182 with a poor OBP of .267 in the last five games. Their anemic slugging percentage of .226 during this period further builds a case for suggestions of a low-scoring game. The Blue Jays bullpen has been lights-out lately, sporting a 0.85 WHIP and 1.35 ERA over the last five games; to that end, they have been virtually unhittable of late. Even on the season, the overall bullpen ERA of 3.62 and WHIP of 1.14 indicate they should be able to keep things in order throughout the later innings of this contest, which minimizes the chance of a late-game surge in scoring. Similarly, the bullpen of the Phillies has been very dominant, with a 3.07 ERA throughout the season, and they should be ready for the challenge of shutting down runners crossing the plate, considering the trends of the unders lately for both teams. Considering that the Blue Jays have gone under the total in seven of their last ten and the under has hit in eighteen of their last twenty-four as a favorite, there is strong anticipation for a tight, low-scoring affair. Using these factors together will lead to the realization that the under 9 can surely be a solid pick in this matchup.
