Germán Márquez arguably has been the Rockies’ best pitcher in his seven-year tenure. However, he’s off to quite the rough start to his 2022 campaign. Through six starts, the right-hander is sporting a 6.47 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 32 innings.

The advanced numbers don’t look too kindly on Márquez, either. His swinging strike rate of 15.3% ranks 102nd out of 127 qualifying starting pitchers, and his strikeout rate also ranks in the 24th percentile.

It’s tough enough to strike out hitters at Coors Field, which sees 16% fewer K’s than the average ballpark over the last three seasons — the lowest rate of all fields.

Moreover, the Royals continue to be one of the tougher teams to punch out. After accruing the fourth-lowest strikeout percentage last season, Kansas City has the fifth-lowest rate this season.

I have Márquez projected at fewer than four strikeouts. I’d play this to -145.

Pick: Under 4.5 strikeouts -125 (Play to -145)
