Lakers vs Nuggets Same Game Parlay
In his fifth pro season, Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. averaged 16.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Entering the NBA playoffs, I’m loving the value of Porter's player props for Game 1 against the Lakers.
Rather than go with a straight line, I’m going to get creative and put together a two-leg same game parlay for the Nuggets wing, targeting points and rebounds.
Starting with the points, Porter has reached 15 points in 39-of-57 games when playing at least 30 minutes (68% hit rate). Against the Lakers specifically, he scored 25, 27 and 12 against them in the regular season (the latter coming on opening night).
It’s a good matchup for the sharpshooter, as the Lakers are average to below average defending Porter's most frequent play types. The Purple and Gold rank 16th against spot-up shooters, 27th in transition and 30th off-screens – the three comprise 64% of Porter's scoring usage (data from Props Madness).
On the boards, Porter registered 10, 8 and 12 rebounds against the Lakers this season. Dating back to last season, including the playoffs, Porter has pulled down at least seven rebounds in all nine contests against the Lakers.
With Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon locked on Anthony Davis and Lebron James, respectively, the Mizzou alum will be counted on to crash the boards.
Even with the Nuggets coming into Game 1 fully healthy, I love this spot for Porter. While I’m comfortable with both his straight points and rebounds props, this is my preferred way to attack the board tonight.
Pick: Michael Porter Jr. 15+ points and 7+ rebounds (+124 | Play to +105; DraftKings)
