The Cavaliers' emergence has been one the NBA’s pleasant surprises this season, with Garland’s stellar play at the forefront. The first time All-Star is averaging 30.4 points and assists this season, putting up career-high offensive numbers across the board.
And as the Cavs make their playoff push, the point guard has stepped up his play. Over the last 20 games, Garland has pushed his P+A average to 35.7, eclipsing this line in 13 of those contests.
And if you eliminate his matchups against the top five point guard defenses, Garland's production jumps to 37.6 P+A over his last 13 games.
The Nets are most definitely not one of those tougher matchups. Brooklyn has struggled to contain point guards all season, allowing the eighth-most points and assists per game. Garland will likely be checked by Bruce Brown, who has struggled against quick guards this season.
This is one the few games on the remaining NBA schedule where both teams will be highly motivated to win, as the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference (and a home play-in game) are on the line.
I expect big minutes for Garland, who has already pushed past this total in two of three games against the Nets this season.
