The upstart Cavaliers have been the pleasant surprise of the NBA season, currently sitting as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Mobley has been at the center of Cleveland’s resurgence, on both ends of the floor.

The third overall pick from the 2022 NBA Draft is averaging 15.3 points per game on the season.

But that doesn’t tell the whole story, as the Cavs will once again be without their All-Star center, Jarrett Allen. In 10 games without Allen in the lineup this season, Mobley’s scoring jumps to 18.7 points per game, eclipsing this line in seven of those contests. The three misses were against the stout frontcourt defenses of the Celtics, Heat and Knicks.

The Pistons interior defense is a far cry from those three teams. The trio of Isaiah Stewart, Kelly Olynyk and Marvin Bagley represent a winnable matchup for the versatile Mobley.

On the second leg of a back-to-back, I expect Cavs coach JB Bickerstaff to ride his younger players, especially given the fluid injury situation for Cleveland. I have Mobley projected at 19 points in a juicy matchup tonight.

Pick: Evan Mobley over 16.5 points (-120 at FanDuel). Playable to 17.5 points.
