In his third season with the Hornets, P.J. Washington’s minutes and production have declined. The emergence of Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball, coupled with the strong play of Terry Rozier, has rendered the Kentucky product a complementary piece to the Hornets’ young core. Consequently, Washington is averaging 18 Points + Rebounds + Assists (PRA) in 27 minutes per game, which both are career lows.

In 25 starts this season, Washington’s PRA average and minutes per game bump up to 19.9 and 33 respectively. However, he’s stayed under this line in 16 of his last 21 starts, typically playing as the fourth or fifth offensive option. His Usage Rate drops from 16.9% to 14.9% when he plays with the first unit.

While the Magic are full steam ahead with tanking protocols, they’ve actually played some good defense of late. Orlando ranks 10th in Defensive Rating over the last 15 games, holding their opponents to the third lowest field goal percentage over that span.

With Ball and Bridges playing some of their best basketball of late, and Rozier always capable of getting it going, I don’t see much upside in Washington’s matchup tonight. I have him projected closer to 18 PRA.

Pick: P.J. Washington Under 21.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-111 at FanDuel) | Bet to: 20.5 PRA
