In his fourth season in the league, Ayton is once again proving he’s an invaluable piece to the high-powered Suns offense. The former No. 1 overall pick is averaging 16.9 points this season, second on the team behind Devin Booker.

Ayton is very reliant on his guards getting him the ball, as most big men are. While his usage ebbs and flows within the course of the season, the Suns seem to be making a more concerted effort to get their center the ball of late. Over the last nine games, Ayton has seen an uptick in frontcourt touches, and elbow/paint touches, versus his season average.

The result has been a 19.8 point average over that span, eclipsing 16.5 points in seven of those nine games.

The Pelicans have allowed the eighth-most points to the center position this season, and have struggled in general against the pick and roll. Roll-men are scoring the seventh most points per game against New Orleans. As the league’s third most prolific scorer as a roll man, the Arizona product should feast tonight.

Ayton put up 20 points against these Pelicans in late February. I expect another strong game tonight, as I have the big man projected to break the 20-point barrier yet again.

Pick: Deandre Ayton over 16.5 points (-108 at FanDuel). Playable to over 17.5. points.
