The Washington Wizards once again find themselves without Bradley Beal for a few games as he deals with a hamstring injury.
Enter Kristaps Porzingis, who figures to be the main beneficiary of Beal’s absence.
Porzingis is averaging 22.2 points per game in his first full year in Washington. In 13 full games without Beal, the sharp-shooting big man has averaged 23.5 points per game, clearing this line in six of the last 11.
While it’s fairly obvious that he and Kyle Kuzma will factor as the Wizards' two primary offensive options, it’s Porzingis who is set up for success in the matchup against the Thunder tonight.
To put it simply – the Thunder are small. With a myriad of frontcourt injuries, Oklahoma City only has one player listed as taller than 6’8,” and that’s journeyman Mike Muscala (who isn’t known for his defensive prowess).
The 7’3’’ Porzingis should feast on his individual matchup, as he’s likely to see the significantly shorter Kenrich Williams and Darius Bazley try to check him as well.
Even with Beal in the lineup, the Wizards looked to exploit this matchup in their earlier matchup with the Thunder. Porzingis totaled 27 points and saw double the elbow touches (eight) he normally does per game (averages four per game this season).
I expect a healthy dose of the unicorn tonight. I have Porzingis projected at 26 points and would play this line up to over 24.5.
Pick: Kristaps Porzingis Over 23.5 Points (-105) | Play to Over 24.5 Points |
