Tanner Bibee has been dealing of late, as he sports a 1.65 ERA over his last five starts, including a stellar performance against Texas earlier this season. His 1.08 WHIP and ability to suppress hard contact make it tough for the slumping Rangers offense to score runs, especially considering they have only a .218 batting average and .685 OPS over their last seven games. On the other side of the coin, an offense that scores only 4.19 runs per game, which ranks 20th in the majors, and averages 3.97 per game on the road, clearly indicates Texas's offensive problems. On the other side, Nathan Eovaldi's rough go of late could be overcome by his capability for a bounce-back performance against a Texas lineup that hasn't been clicking. The Guardians have been like Texas, marginally better offensively, but they just can't get consistency, especially at home, where they average just 4.51 runs per game. Cleveland's lineup has been very up and down, and with Jose Ramirez struggling to find his stroke as of late (2-for-21 in the last series), it is unlikely they will be able to provide much run support. While his road ERA is a respectable 3.76, Eovaldi has been great in streaks at shutting down opposing offenses. A further level of confidence in the under 7 pick is provided by Cleveland's bullpen. One of the strong points about the Guardians' relievers is their 2.30 ERA, paired with a WHIP of 1.00. If he can turn the ball over to the bullpen with either the lead or a close game, that would make things very tough for Texas to score in the later frames. This is not really the case for Texas, but at least the bullpen has been serviceable, indicating it can hold down the fort when Eovaldi exits with the game still in reach. With these two teams going against right-handed pitching and the way the pitchers of late have been performing, the likelihood is of a low-scoring game, so in this situation, an under 7 bet is strong. In sum, it's going to be a combination of Bibee's dominance, Eovaldi's potential to neutralize a struggling Cleveland offense, and strong bullpens on both sides that juices the under. The icing on the under cake would be the fact that the Rangers are the poorest-run-scoring team away from home and the recent offensive struggles of the Guardians. At best, this should be expected to be a low-scoring game of runs.
