Indiana was the toughest matchup in the league for assists last season. The Pacers limited opponents to a 55.5% assisted field goal rate, which was the lowest by a solid margin (Celtics were 2nd at 59.2%). They held Detroit to 58% in their first game. We saw Brunson struggle in the assist department against Indiana in the postseason. After averaging 9 assists in the first round against Philadelphia, he managed just 6.1 per game in the series against the Pacers. Matchup aside, Brunson averaged 6.7 assists on 12 potential assists in the regular season last year. Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns are in the fold now, which could boost Brunson's dimes but might also ding his usage.

Juicy, but too high of a line here for Mikal in my eyes. Just does not have the same level of usage/playmaking role in this Knicks offense. In the season opener, he had just 1 potential assist. Rebounding wise, Mikal had no rebounds or rebound chances in the season opener. Would not be shocked if he’s the one guarding Haliburton today on the perimeter, which would limit his rebound opportunities again. Pacers are one of the top teams at defending spot up shooters, so they don’t allow many assists (4th-least last season). They were middle of the pack in rebounds allowed.
