THE BOUNCE 📽️: 9.64 Rebs **Increased Role** With both Robert Williams and Deandre Ayton out of the lineup, "Cling Kong" becomes Portland's primary option at center. This has already translated into huge rebounding success in a similar scenario earlier this season. In the one game without Williams or Ayton, Clingan grabbed 12 rebounds in 31.5 minutes, driven by 30 rebound chances. The absence of other dominant rebounders in the rotation means Clingan is positioned to play extended minutes and dominate on the glass. Even in games where he’s shared time with one of the other centers, Clingan has been highly effective. He’s cleared the 7.5-rebound line in two of his last three games, and even his lone miss (7 rebounds) came close. He’s consistently generating high rebound chances, with 15+ opportunities in each of his last three outings. **Houston’s Matchup** Houston is a decent rebounding team but still allows the 12th-most rebounds to opposing centers this season. This stems from their fast-paced style of play (7th in pace), which results in more shot attempts and more rebounding opportunities overall. Additionally, Houston ranks 23rd in field goal percentage, further increasing the likelihood of missed shots and second-chance opportunities for Clingan. Physically, Clingan holds a significant size advantage over Houston's frontline. Standing at 7'2", he’s taller and longer than Alperen Şengün (6'11"), Houston’s tallest active player. Clingan’s superior size and wingspan give him a clear edge in securing rebounds over Houston’s smaller and less imposing frontcourt. **Game Environment** The matchup also benefits from a favorable game environment. Both teams rank in the top 10 in pace, with Portland sitting 6th and Houston 7th. This fast tempo will likely create a high-volume game with plenty of possessions, shot attempts, and missed shots, which are critical for rebounding upside.

Timelord got ruled out and Ayton went from a GTD to doubtful, so he's trending to be out as well, which leaves Clingan as their only big. Clingan has played one game where Ayton/Williams were out and recorded a 17/12/1 stat line and most importantly played 31 MIN (also a tough MU vs. MIN). I think this MU vs. HOU is better compared to the MIN MU - HOU are a lot tougher on opponent wings/guards but lack size around the rim with Sengun and physicality with Jabari. In the game he played 31 MIN, Clingan grabbed 12 REB on 30 REB chances (40.0% REB chance%). In his young career, Clingan AVG a 49.2% REB chance%, so he could have easily grabbed 14-15 REB in that last MU. These two just played yesterday and Clingan grabbed 7 REB in just 15 MIN (foul trouble) and led the team with 16.0 REB chances. HOU rank #17 in REB and allow the 12th most RPG to C. To compare to the MIN MU, MIN rank #4 in REB and allow the 5th fewest RPG to C. The big thing here is foul trouble. I think we see him tone back trying to block every shot to stay out of foul trouble since he's their only big and they'll need him. Anotherssneaky edge here is Steven Adams was ruled out, so when Sengun is off Jabari will play the 5. For his DD, HOU allow the 3rd highest FREQ% less than 10 FT from the rim. In the one game he played 25+ MIN, he scored 17 PTS on 10 FGA.

Simons faces a Rockets team he just faced on Friday where he finished with 10 PRA over 21 minutes. He missed the last 3 games due to illness and a hand injury, and it’s possible he’s still dealing with the effects of it. Rockets rank 2nd in defensive efficiency, allow the fewest assists per game (21.4), and allow the third fewest points per game (105.1). This is a tough matchup on paper and for the season, Simons is averaging 21.5 PRA so we’re getting a number higher than his season average. Blazers remain without Deandre Ayton and Robert Williams could sit on the backend game so it’s possible Simons is forced to take on more offensive duties, but Scoot Henderson was questionable on Friday before getting ruled out so he’s close to a return which could eat into Simons’ minutes. Add in that the Blazers open as +11.5 road dogs and a potential blowout would help our cause. Playing on Underdog at u24.5 but logging as Sleeper since Underdog isn’t an available book.
