MA lawmakers have yet to come to an agreement on budgeting and the legality of college sports wagering, which is standing in the way of the legalization of sports betting in Massachusetts. Discussions on the fine print of HB 3977 will be ongoing until further notice. MA residents can expect legalized sports betting by late 2022 or early 2023.

Janet Mills passed LD 585 almost two weeks after the State Senate approved the bill, finally legalizing sports betting in Maine on April 19, 2022.
