Ahead of college football’s Week 10 slate, here’s a look ahead at what bets The Action Network’s CFB experts Mike Calabrese and Mike Ianniello like for this week — and how they did last week.
Each week on the Big Bets on Campus podcast, Calabrese and Ianniello take over for the Wednesday “Group of 5 Deep Dive”. No one covers the G5 better as the duo goes through best bets, heroes of the week, moneyline underdog parlays and the G5 Hi-Five Round Robin.
Here’s what they have this week.
Week 9 Group of 5 Recap — How Did They Do?
Both best bets cashed easily with South Alabama cruising to an 18-point win as an 8.5-point favorite and the SMU-Houston total going well over 62.
The longshot in the underdog moneyline parlay hit when Navy (+335) beat Tulsa outright, however Hawaii couldn't come through with a win against Utah State.
The G5 Hi-Five Round Robin went 2-3 after a garbage-time touchdown with 28 seconds left put the Central Florida-Temple total over. Virginia and BYU hit the over in the first half alone. UTEP rallied late for a cover, but Cincinnati didn't put up enough points for the team total over and SMU lost to Houston.
Week 10 Best Bets
Calabrese starts his card with his best bet of the over between Air Force and Army at 37.
Historically, this is an auto-under play, but Calabrese looks deep into the numbers to show why he believes this number is off by 4-5 points.
Ianniello stays with the same game for his best bet, although he's looking at a side. Air Force -2.5 is his best bet, pointing out Army's recent slide and that Air Force is a tough matchup.
Week 10 Underdog Moneyline Parlay
Calabrese goes back to the well with a team the duo has liked all season and is taking South Alabama +165 against Troy. He believes this is a discount after the early season growing pains.
Ianniello's bet is UL-Monroe at Texas State as a +150 favorite. "The Warhawks are just a lot better than people think," he said.
A $100 bet on this parlay would profit $562.50 according to our parlay calculator.
Week 10 G5 Hi-Five Round Robin
- Kent State -4 vs. NIU (Wednesday night)
- SMU -4.5 at Memphis
- SMU-Memphis over 71
- Cincinnati -23 vs. Tulsa
- UTEP +11 vs. UTSA
