Hesitant to bet big favorites? You've missed out on one of the hottest college football betting trends leading up to Week 4.
It's a small sample size of only 23 games across the season, but it's made those timid of betting big chalk look rather foolish.
Large college football favorites in 2022 have been straight-up crushing – and by crushing, we're talking an 83%-type of profit.
But there are a few parameters to this betting trend. We'll explain, plus go over the games and picks that apply in Week 4.
College Football Betting Trends
College football favorites are killing it in the smash-spot role this season.
FBS teams closing as 27-point favorites or larger against FBS opponents are 19-4 against the spread in 2022 – that's good for an 83% win rate and profit north of $1,300, assuming a $100 wager on every play.
This betting trend's off a blistering-hot Week 3 in which favorites of 27 or more went 7-1 against the spread.
All seven winners covered the line by at least 5.5 points of cushion despite laying huge numbers, and more than half hung 63 points or more.
Eight games apply in Week 4 when factoring in current market prices, and what do you know? Half the favorites are SEC programs.
