USF vs. Tulsa
Quarterback Katravis Marsh is out indefinitely, which means South Florida will have to turn to third-string quarterback and true freshman Byrum Brown to make his first collegiate start.
I expect USF to have a fairly conservative game plan and lean on running back Brian Battie against Tulsa’s run-funnel defense.
Weaver will likely be Brown’s top target and see a massive target share, but I’m just not projecting enough yards for Brown to get Weaver close to this number.
In fact, I’m projecting his median closer to 62.5 receiving yards here and think there's quite a bit of value on his under.
Pick: Xavier Weaver Under 75.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
Tulsa’s quarterback play has been shaky recently, and I expect it to lean heavily on Prince against South Florida’s atrocious run defense in a game where it should be able to get out to a big lead.
I’m projecting Prince’s median rushing yards closer to 80.5 and love his over here.
Pick: Deneric Prince Over 64.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
San Diego State vs. New Mexico
I'm not expecting the Lobos to generate much offense tonight, as seen by their implied team total of 11 points.
I’m projecting Justin Holaday to throw for only around 100 yards tonight, and while Luke Wysong will likely be his top target, Geordon Porter could eat into his target share quite a bit tonight. Porter has been in and out of the lineup the past few weeks but seems to be closer to 100% now.
Plus, Wysong’s aDot of 6.8 means he could haul in 3-4 passes and still possibly stay under this number.
I don’t think there will be enough passing volume for him to get there tonight, especially since Holaday has been very willing to use his legs to generate offense.
I’m projecting Wysong’s median closer to 25.5 rec yards tonight.
