Back on Oct. 12, Ohio State and Oregon played one of the best games this season, a 32-31 Oregon victory in Eugene.

This time, the new Big Ten foes will face off in one of the nation's most iconic venues: the Rose Bowl. Despite Oregon winning round one, Ohio State is favored in Pasadena.

Oddsmakers also expect another high-scoring battle with a total of 55.5 points. Another shootout will also give us the opportunity to cash this same-game parlay.

College Football Playoff Predictions, Picks, Parlay

  • Jeremiah Smith 80+ Receiving Yards (+116) and Anytime Touchdown (+100)
  • Jordan James 80+ Rushing Yards (-148) and Anytime Touchdown (-190)
  • Tez Johnson 80+ Receiving Yards (-102)
  • Parlay Odds: +1035 via FanDuel

Ohio State Player Prop: Jeremiah Smith 80+ Receiving Yards and Anytime TD

Though these lines are not guaranteed to hit a second time, the first meeting does give us a frame of reference for this CFP quarterfinal.

One player who seems to perform no matter the matchup is Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

The true freshman began his CFP career with six catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns against Tennessee. He now has 63 receptions for 1,042 yards and 12 touchdown receptions- all Ohio State freshman records.

Smith has had at least 80 yards in eight of 13 games this season and he has found the end zone in 10 of those games as well. He has gone over 100 yards in games this season. That includes in the first meeting when he had nine receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown against Oregon.

Limiting Smith's impact will assuredly be one of Oregon's top priorities. However, it's difficult to fully execute when Will Howard also has Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate to throw to among others. Egbuka had 93 yards himself in the first meeting while Tate has 600 yards receiving himself.

It would be in Ohio State's best interest if Smith saw 10-plus targets in this game. If he hauls in six or more, I like his chances of having 80 yards and finding the end zone once again.

Oregon Player Prop: Jordan James 80+ Rushing Yards and Anytime TD

If your team had a great running back this season, there's a good chance it made it to the CFP. Ashton Jeanty, Cameron Skattebo, Dylan Sampson, Brashard Smith, TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins are all on CFP rosters this season.

However, don't sleep on Jordan James.

In his first year as a starter, the junior ran for 1,253 and 15 touchdowns on 5.5 yards per carry. He has run for 80 yards in 11 of 13 games this season and he has also scored in 11-of-13 games as well. James went for 115 yards and a touchdown against the Buckeyes in the first meeting.

Dan Lanning expected his team to make a deep run this season and he lightened the workload for his lead back where he saw fit.

After the Ohio State game, James had four games with 15 carries or less. However, he had 20 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns in the Big Ten Championship game against Penn State.

Now, he has had almost a month to rest up. Expect a heavy workload from James here.

Oregon Player Prop: Tez Johnson 80+ Receiving Yards

Ohio State may have the nation's best group of wide receivers but don't tell that to this group of Oregon receivers.

Tez Johnson, Evan Stewart and Traeshon Holden all are over 600 yards this season. Johnson led the way with 78 receptions for 866 yards and 10 touchdowns.

If not for a shoulder injury he suffered at Michigan, Johnson likely would be over 1,000 yards already. However, if he matches his performance in the Big Ten Championship game, he will get there.

Against the Nittany Lions, Johnson had 11 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown. He fell just short of this line against Ohio State, but he had seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. Another first down would have gotten him there or another high-volume game.

Johnson has eight games with at least six receptions this season and he has recorded 80 yards in six of them. His quarterback, Dillon Gabriel, is averaging 31.2 attempts per game and threw the ball 34 in the first matchup.

If he throws the ball over 30 times again, his WR1 likely has a busy day.
