Welcome to the return of my tempo report, this time focusing on totals for the Week 3 college football schedule.

Plenty of coaches have expressed negative feedback on the new clock rules that have limited the number of possessions offensively.

Teams that generate a heavy amount of first downs had a projection that veered toward the under, but oddsmakers may have over-adjusted to this point. Penn State, Toledo and LSU all rank top-10 in first downs and have a combined 6-0 record going over the total.

The teams that have flown well under the closing total for a perfect under record include UTSA, Sam Houston, Ohio State, Ohio and SMU. One thing these teams have in common is a lack of scoring when given the opportunity, as each sits below the national average of 3.8 in Finishing Drives.

Our Action Network projected totals rely on straight mathematics, a combination of seconds per play, yards per play and Finishing Drives.
