Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes could receive a massive boost this week in the form of star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.
"I hope he can play," Sanders said. "He is cleared and he has protection … but the game is the game. The game is a violent game. It's a vicious game. But Travis is also physical."
Hunter has been sidelined for the past three weeks after taking a hit in the Colorado State game on September 16 that caused a lacerated liver.
On Wednesday during the Colorado Football Coaches Show, Sanders said Hunter will, "Most likely play."
Prior to that game, Hunter was climbing up the Heisman odds boards and had been the biggest liability to win the Heisman at multiple sportsbooks.
"He has to be in shape," Sanders said. "I don't want him to be a liability. I want him to always be a tremendous asset."
The Buffaloes play Stanford on Friday night and are 11-point favorites. And after practicing with full contact all week, it appears Hunter has a great chance of suiting up.
"There's a tremendous chance he could play," Sanders said. "It goes by how he looks, how he performs in practice, how his wind is."
Action Network college football writer, Collin Wilson, notes that Hunter’s real impact came on the defensive side of the ball in the few games he played this season. Lining up at cornerback, Hunter allowed just four catches on 12 targets and notched four pass breakups. If Hunter suits up, Wilson thinks there's value on the under down to 55, a huge difference compared to the current highest line of 60.5.
