For the past three weeks, Action Network unveiled daily the favorite musical artist/group of all 133 FBS coaches.
Now that our project is complete, we wanted to provide the entire list so you can compare/mock/debate/love/hate the musical choices of all 133 FBS coaches*.
*Actually, we only have the favorite musician of 132 coaches because Colorado’s Deion Sanders would not answer.
Before we get to the list, a few notes:
King George — George Strait — was the most popular choice, selected by eight coaches. Eric Church and Luke Combs tied as the second-most popular choice, each receiving six votes; followed by Bruce Springsteen (5), AC/DC (4) and Kenny Chesney (4).
Nine groups received three votes each: Bob Marley, Cole Swindell, Dave Matthews Band, Eagles, Jay-Z, Jimmy Buffett, Journey, Mumford & Sons and Prince.
Here's a list of the coaches who picked the most popular choices:
- George Strait: (Jimbo Fisher, Tyson Helton, Jerry Kill, Joey McGuire, Eric Morris, Barry Odom, Lance Taylor, Jeff Traylor)
- Eric Church (Mack Brown, Jason Candle, Mike Desormeaux, Eliah Drinkwitz, Hugh Freeze, Jonathan Smith)
- Luke Combs (Mike Bloomgren, Shawn Clark, Jacob Dickert, Alex Golesh, Mike Neu, Scott Satterfield)
- Bruce Springsteen (Jeff Hafley, K.C. Keeler, Brian Kelly, Greg Schiano, Justin Wilcox)
- AC/DC (Don Brown, Pat Narduzzi, Ryan Silverfield, Ken Wilson)
- Kenny Chesney (Troy Calhoun, Lance Leipold, Scot Loeffler, Lincoln Riley)
Another interesting aspect was the three coaches who selected Mumford & Sons. Tennessee’s Josh Heupel, UCLA’s Chip Kelly and Oregon’s Dan Lanning all went with the folk/rock band, and last year, their teams all ranked among the top six nationally in total offense. Maybe there’s a correlation between listening to Mumford & Sons and directing high-powered offenses?
Here you go. I hope you enjoyed our project as much as I did.
