It wouldn't be a college football weekend without a bad beat, but how about two in the same game?
It's been a less-than-ideal season for both Clemson and Florida State this year, but things hit a whole new level of bad for the Seminoles and their backers on Saturday.
Florida State closed as a 9.5-point underdog to the Tigers with a game total set at 47.5. And with just four seconds remaining in Saturday's game and the Seminoles trailing 24-20 at their own 33-yard line, Clemson appeared destined to drop to an abysmal 0-8 against the spread this season.
That's when things got wacky.
ALL-TIME BAD BEAT 🚨 🤮
❌ Florida State +9.5
❌ Under 47.5— The Action Network (@ActionNetworkHQ) October 30, 2021
The ole hook-and-ladder play turned disastrous as Clemson's Barrett Carter scooped and scored the Florida State fumble to extend the Tigers lead to 10 and the total to 50, crushing the dreams off all the Florida State and under bettors.
Sixty-seven percent of the public's bets were on the Seminoles to cover the 9.5-point spread. Florida State now returns home to play NC State next weekend.
