How Hawaii Reached the Hawai'i Bowl
A one-time replacement bowl was added to the slate to give Hawaii postseason life. Todd Graham’s team accepted a bid to the Hawaii Bowl where it will meet Memphis following a 6-win season. That pushed the team’s preseason win total.
The Rainbow Warriors are bowl eligible thanks to back-to-back wins over Colorado State and Wyoming to end the regular season. They’ll lean on Chevan Cordeiro at quarterback, who threw for over 2,700 yards on the year.
How Memphis Reached the Hawai'i Bowl
This isn’t where Memphis expected to be this season. There was plenty of optimism around the Tigers this year, entering the season with a win total of 8.5 but falling well short at 6-6. A 3-5 conference record left Memphis in 7th in the AAC standings.
A win over Mississippi State provided no momentum as the Tigers followed it up with three consecutive losses.
Freshman quarterback Seth Henigan has been leaned on heavily, throwing for over 3,000 yards with 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The Hawai’i Bowl on Christmas Eve pits the Memphis Tigers vs. the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.
This bowl’s been around since 2002. The hometown Hawaii football team is making its ninth appearance all-time.
It recorded a win in 2019 over BYU, 38-34. That’s the most-recent matchup, after the bowl was canceled last season.
Rainbow Warriors head coach Todd Graham last appeared in the Hawai’i Bowl in 2010 when he was at Tulsa. He and the Golden Hurricane romped none other than Hawaii in a track meet, 62-35.
