The college football season kicks off next month, and we’re already seeing movement in the Heisman Trophy market.
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers had been the two favorites since last season ended. However, Oregon passer Dillion Gabriel has leapfrogged Ewers to join Beck as a co-favorite.
Gabriel and Beck are +800 to win at DraftKings, Ewers is +950. Ohio State’s Will Howard and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe are tied at +1500 to round out the top five.
This marks Gabriel’s first year with the Ducks. He started his collegiate career at the University of Central Florida from 2019 – 2021 before spending the past two years starting for Oklahoma. He completed 266-of-384 passes (69.3%) for 3,600 yards and 30 touchdowns last season. Gabriel was also a threat running the ball, carrying it 89 times for 315 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this marks Beck’s second season starting for Georgia. He went 302-for-417 (72.4%) for 3,941 and 25 touchdowns a season ago. He also chipped in four touchdowns on the ground.
This is also Ewers second season as a starter. He completed 272-of-394 passes (69.0%) for 3,379 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2023 while scoring five rushing touchdowns.
