Michigan is now 4-2 on the season and is coming off a bye. Before the bye, Michigan lost by 10 points on the road at Washington.
Michigan has made a quarterback change for the second time this season, inserting Jack Tuttle to take over for Alex Orji, who took over for Davis Warren. None of the quarterbacks have gotten the Wolverines’ passing attack going.
This should be a hotly contested game. Michigan is the favorite on the road, but Illinois has been undefeated at home. Michigan ranks 43rd in Rushing Success Rate, while Illinois ranks just 91st in Rushing Success Rate allowed, so the Wolverines will likely lean heavily into their running game here.
On the other side, Illinois will need to air it out to have a chance to win this game. The Illini rank 25th in Passing Success Rate, while the dangerous Michigan defense ranks just 68th in Passing Success Rate allowed.

Kalel Mullings 100+ Rushing Yards (+185)
In every game that Michigan has won this season, the Wolverines have dominated on the ground.
It hasn't been NCAA Football cover athlete Donovan Edwards that's found the most success, though. Instead, it's been Kalel Mullings.
Mullings averages 6.5 yards per carry compared to just 4.8 YPC from Edwards, and Mullings has finally overtaken Edwards as the lead back.
Prior to their loss at Washington, Mullings posted three consecutive 100+ yard games against Arkansas State, USC and Minnesota. He even tallied two touchdowns in all three of those games.
Meanwhile, Illinois has been getting torched on the ground, giving up 100+ yards in each of its last two games to Penn State’s Kaytron Allen and Purdue’s Devin Mockobee.
Illinois’ defense relies on its secondary, and it's opportunistic at forcing turnovers. With yet another new QB under center, Michigan will likely double and triple down on using Mullings as a feature back.
He should find success against Illinois’ weak run defense.
Luke Altmyer 200+ Passing Yards (+105)
When Illinois is on offense, it'll need to lean on the arm of its veteran QB Luke Altmyer.
Altmyer is coming off his best performance of his season, totaling 379 yards passing on 34 attempts against Purdue last week.
Altmyer has been sensational this season, and is one of the primary reasons why Illinois has won its big games. He has 14 passing touchdowns to just one interception on the year.
The only exploitable vulnerability of the Michigan defense this season has been the secondary, and at home, Illinois should have the pieces to take advantage.
On top of that, lead running back Kaden Feagin has been ruled out for this game, which will force Illinois to commit to its passing game even more aggressively.
In six games, Altmyer has hit 200+ yards four times. In four games at home, Altmyer is averaging 256 yards passing yards per game.
200 should be on the low end for Altmyer in this game.
Pat Bryant 60+ Receiving Yards (+105)
If Altmyer is going to pop off, Pat Bryant will be heavily involved, as always.
Bryant leads Illinois in receiving yards at 452 (on 27 receptions) and has seven receiving touchdowns (the rest of Illinois’ team has seven combined).
Bryant has some huge games, including 100+ yard games against Purdue and Central Michigan.
The Illini’s star receiver is comfortable at home, tallying at least 63 yards in all four home games.
All in all, Bryant has hit 60+ yards in five of his six contests, and against the Michigan secondary, he'll have opportunities for big plays.
