There was a lot of talk in the offseason about who was leaving the James Madison program.
However, it's time to start giving coach Bob Chesney some credit.
Not only is JMU racking up wins, but the high-powered offense is adding the entertainment factor to the victories.
Chesney’s squad has lit up the scoreboard over the past two weeks. It started with beating North Carolina 70-50 before following up with the dominant 63-7 triumph over Ball State.
JMU quarterback Alonza Barnett III joined some elite company in the process. Joe Burrow and Barnett are the last two signal callers to lead their teams to consecutive games with at least 63 points.
Anytime you get compared to the 2019 LSU team, you've done something right.
Chesney hopes this continues as the school enters conference play.

JMU isn’t the only program in this matchup that is off to a great start under a new coach.
Bryant Vincent has ULM picking up wins in his debut season.
With a victory over Troy last week, the Warhawks improved to 3-1 for the first time since 2014. It was also ULM's first road victory and conference-opening victory since 2022.
This came after the Warhawks looked dominant against UAB. The 32-6 final score was ULM's largest margin of victory against an FBS opponent since 2018.
The program welcomed 73 new players in the offseason. This has to be among the best coaching jobs in the country.
One of the key new additions has been quarterback General Booty. He may not have the best numbers, but his leadership has been critical to the quick start.

This is one of many lopsided spreads this week in college football, and I’m not sure it can go high enough here for me to bet ULM.
That said, I'm backing James Madison.
I don't think ULM's offense can keep up with the Dukes. The Warhawks rank among the bottom 10 Group of 5 teams in Success Rate, Explosiveness and Finishing Drives.
ULM also ranks 130th in yards per game — James Madison averages more than double the Warhawks' yards per game.
The Dukes likely put up a dud at some point, but I don't expect that to happen on Saturday.
