This article contains predictions for an old game.

There have been plenty of surprises in the ACC this season, but the success of the Miami Hurricanes (9-0) shouldn't be among them. The Hurricanes' talent has flourished and led them to being ranked as the No. 4 team.

However, their spot in the College Football Playoff may be tested as they are set to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-4) at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Georgia Tech opened the season 5-2 but has since dropped two games to Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.

That two-game losing streak also coincided with the loss of quarterback Haynes King, whose status will impact where this line closes. But will his presence impact the final score?

Miami is a 10.5-point favorite on the spread with a 63.5-point over/under. The game kicks off at 12 p.m. ET and can be streamed live on ESPN.

Let's find out as I make my Miami vs Georgia Tech predictions and college football picks.

Miami Hurricanes vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets College Football Preview

Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview: Offense Should Cruise

The Miami Hurricanes have once again become appointment television. They have tremendous talent on both sides of the ball, but what has catapulted them into the national spotlight is the play of quarterback Cam Ward.

Ward comes into this matchup as the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. He leads the nation in QBR while ranking 17th in completion percentage and fourth in yards per pass. He also holds a 29-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

He and his receiving corps should show no signs of slowing down in this matchup. The Yellow Jackets rank 87th in opponent completion percentage and 65th in yards per pass allowed. They have generated no pressure this season and rank 129th in sack rate.

Georgia Tech is outmatched here, and while the numbers show it, their struggles could be further amplified as they rank 123rd and 94th in PFF's tackling and coverage grades, respectively.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview: Tough Task for Offense

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets' offensive outlook is dependent on King's status. If King is in, the offense will get a big boost, as he's performed levels above the play we've seen from Zach Pyron over the past two weeks.

While having a capable passer under center would be ideal for the Yellow Jackets, they tend to keep the ball on the ground. They do so with running back Jamal Haynes, who's averaging 4.9 yards per carry, but both quarterbacks have also shown their mobility.

However, the issue is the Hurricanes' defensive front. Miami has a big edge in Line Yards, outranking Georgia Tech 23 to 93. The Hurricanes have been excellent against the run, ranking 28th in Rush Success Rate allowed and 35th in yards per rush allowed.

Regardless of who is under center, the lack of a run game will put pressure on the passing attack. Miami's secondary has also been very solid, ranking 16th in opponent completion percentage and 27th in Pass Success Rate allowed.

So, whether it is King or Pyron at the helm, it looks like there will be tough sledding for the Yellow Jackets offense.

How To Make College Football Picks For My Miami vs Georgia Tech Prediction

Georgia Tech has received some backing in the market as we've seen this number fall since opening, but it has yet to cross through 10.

The Hurricanes have substantial edges on both sides of the ball and should be able to create separation on the scoreboard rather quickly.

Back "The U" to cover the spread.
