New Mexico State Over 6 wins (+105)

The 2017 season was one for the ages if you're a New Mexico State fan. After decades of underwhelming play, the squad from Las Cruces made its first bowl in 57 years. The fun didn't stop there, as the Arizona Bowl had a thrilling overtime that ended with an Aggies victory. Rush that field NMSU faithful, it was a terrific 2017.

New Mexico State has left the Sun Belt and become an Independent FBS team, and loses most of the offense, as it ranks 122nd in returning production. The good news for whoever wins the quarterback job is the offensive line will have a former starter at every position.

Defensively, things are looking just fine. Frank Spaziani did a terrific job as defensive coordinator last year. NMSU improved from an S&P+ defensive ranking of 120th to 69th, including an adjusted sack rate of 36th in the country. The Aggies return plenty of experience and depth on defense, and should carry the water as the offense gets acclimated.

New Mexico State will be favored in eight games, and will be dogs against Wyoming, Minnesota, Utah State, and BYU. None of those teams are power houses offensively, and one upset should get NMSU Over 6 (+105) wins to the window.

NMSU is 2-10 ATS off a bye week since 2012. This situation applies twice (Liberty on Oct. 6 and BYU on Nov. 17).
