Bet To Watch

Ohio Over 8.5 (+110)

Ohio's late-season collapse against Akron is the definition of #MACtion. The Bobcats had their eyes on a berth in the conference championship game, then everything crumbled with one-possession losses to Akron and Buffalo.

Quarterback Nathan Rourke is back, and he should be plenty motivated to lead Ohio to its first MAC title in 50 years. He averaged a solid 7.5 yards per attempt and had 17 touchdowns to seven interceptions last year. Ohio's overall returning production is 81st, but most of the losses are on the defensive line.

The Bobcats got a scheduling break this season, as fellow MAC East contender Buffalo must come to Ohio. That game should be pivotal in determining who comes out of the East. There are a few underdog spots on the schedule, but the Bobs are 11-2 ATS a an underdog since 2015, and should pull at least one outright upset.

While I won't lay money on Ohio to win the MAC, I do think a schedule that has Kent State, Ball State, Bowling Green and Akron deserves a bet on the Over 8.5 (+110). And while Buffalo features one of the premier players in the MAC in quarterback Tyree Jackson, the Bobcats' defensive front seven should be well-seasoned by the Nov. 14 showdown.
