An Oregon offense that averaged the second-most total yards (531.4) and points per game (44.2) in 2023 added a major weapon Thursday, as coveted wide receiver Evan Stewart announced he's transferring to the Ducks. Stewart was widely considered the No. 1 available player in the transfer portal.
The 6-foot, 175-pound wideout spent his first two years at Texans A&M, catching 91 passes for 1,163 yards and six touchdowns. He caught 53 passes for 649 yards and two touchdowns his freshman year and recorded 38 receptions for 514 yards and four TDs this past season.
Stewart is a big get for the program to help offset Troy Franklin’s departure. Franklin declared for the NFL Draft after catching 81 passes for 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Ducks this year. Stewart will join a wideout corps featuring Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden, who are returning in 2024.
Landing Stewart was the second big news of the day for Ducks fans after head coach Dan Lanning let everyone know he was staying in Oregon. Lanning had been linked to Alabama following Nick Saban’s sudden retirement, but posted a video announcing he wasn’t going anywhere.
