Purdue Boilermakers vs Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Preview
Purdue Boilermakers Betting Preview: Nothing is Going Right
Remember where you were on August 31, 2024?
Purdue was demolishing Indiana State by a score of 49-0, opening the season with a bang and inspiring hope in their entire fan base that surely this year would be different.
Since then, the Boilermakers have been outscored in their next seven games by a total of 295-113, and have lost seven consecutive contests. The impressive part is that it has largely been as ugly as it sounds.
Not only has Purdue lost a lot, but they have lost by a lot! Against elite opponents, Purdue has been beaten by 59 points (Notre Dame), 46 points (Wisconsin), and 35 points (Oregon).
All of those results led Purdue to last week, when the Boilermakers had one final shot at a winnable game, at home, against a Northwestern team with plenty of holes. The Boilers lost in overtime, essentially stamping their fate.
Motivation will be a question here, as there is no bowl game left to play for and all that is left is to play spoiler against an opponent that is better than them in all facets.
The one true sign for optimism mid-season for Purdue was breakout freshman quarterback Ryan Browne, who led the Boilermakers on a furious second-half comeback to make things interesting against Illinois.
Head coach Ryan Walters said it would be a two-quarterback system between Browne and veteran Hudson Card, but the veteran Card threw the ball 37 times to Browne's three last week in the loss to Northwestern.
Purdue ranks outside the top 70 in Rush and Pass Success, as well as Rush and Pass Success allowed. There is no spot on the field that the Boilermakers should feel good about in this game.
Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Preview: Time to Make a Statement
Enter an Ohio State team that feels very good about itself right now.
Ohio State survived on the road against Penn State last week, earning Ryan Day a week off from his many critics concerned with his performances in big games. The main concern here will be a let-down spot, as the Buckeyes know they can take a deep breath and relax a bit.
But I'd argue this is as good a time as any for the Buckeyes to seek out a statement win. Going back a month now, Ohio State has underperformed against the spread in the Oregon loss and a close home win over Nebraska, prior to the Penn State game.
Given that the Bucks are still chasing the Ducks — and are likely playing for College Football Playoff seeding the rest of the way — Ohio State needs some style points, and Ryan Day knows that.
Ohio State has been good this season against opponents that they are favored to beat by 17-38 points, going 3-1 in those four games.
Ohio State ranks inside the top 13 in both Rush and Pass Success, as well as Rush and Pass Success allowed. This is an extremely well-rounded football team with no shortage of talent, and no reason to let up against an overmatched opponent.

How to Make College Football Picks For My Purdue vs Ohio State Prediction
Last week should have been Purdue's last stand. Given the result in the home loss to Northwestern, this feels like death row for the entire Ryan Walters tenure.
Ohio State has the advantage in every positional matchup, and has plenty still to play for. This feels like a "run the score up" game for the Buckeyes.
