The Service Academy Under did not come through.
One of the best bets in sports failed the people on Saturday as Navy trounced Air Force 34-7.
The total for the game was set at 37.5 at Bet365 sportsbook. It got blown out of the water.
The under has cashed at an 83% rate in service academy games over the last 20 years. The under has a 44-9-1 record when Army, Navy and Air Force matchup against each other.
Sportsbooks have tried to adjust in recent years but to no avail, except for Saturday, when the under had no chance. Navy had no problem marching right down the field on most of their drives.
The over has now hit in 15 of the last 18 matchups between service academies.
One reason might be the fact that Army and Navy are much improved this season.
Navy is now 5-0 this season and has a legitimate chance of winning the American conference. That is, if Army doesn't get in the way of the Midshipmen. Army is also undefeated with a 5-0 record after beating Tulsa 49-7.
This has been the highest-scoring matchup between the three service academies for those who want to feel better about their Navy vs. Air Force under.
There is a chance that service academy unders could be turning a corner and starting to progress towards the mean. Air Force clashes with Army on Nov. 2. If they don't match up the week before in the American Conference Championship, Army will face Navy on Dec. 14.
