An SEC East battle between the two universities that call Columbia home is set for Saturday afternoon at Faurot Field.
South Carolina and Missouri enter this contest trending in completely opposite directions.
After a banner 2022 for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks, this season hasn't gone according to plan. South Carolina blew a double-digit fourth quarter lead last week at home to Florida, falling to 2-4 on the year as a result.
Meanwhile, Missouri checks in at 6-1 and firmly alive in the SEC East race, as well as the CFP picture. The Tigers' only loss came to LSU in a back-and-forth shootout, and Mizzou has some impressive wins on its resume, including at Kentucky and at home over Kansas State.
Despite the different direction these teams are currently heading in, this is college football and we know that anything can happen on a week-to-week basis.
Let's discuss where the betting value lies in South Carolina vs. Missouri.
Beamer lost some key pieces to the transfer portal, and it has handcuffed his team this year.
South Carolina has been more competitive than its 2-4 record may suggest, but there are just too many holes on this roster.
Offensive live is one of them. That was on display in the opener against North Carolina, as QB Spencer Rattler was sacked a whopping nine times.
For as often as he's had to deal with pressure, Rattler is probably not getting enough credit for how well he's been playing this season.
The OU transfer is averaging over 280 yards passing per game, is taking care of the football and is also using his legs to scramble for first downs.
On the defensive end, there's not much positive to say about the Gamecocks. In its last two games, the defense has surrendered 40+ to Tennessee and Florida, and it's giving up chunk plays left and right. USC is outside the top 100 in FBS in both Defensive Rush and Pass Success Rate.
This unit will need to clean up a ton to have any success against an efficient Missouri offense.
Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers continue to build some real momentum in Columbia.
If there has been a defining moment of this season, it has to be Harrison Mevis' game-winning 61-yard FG to beat Kansas State as time expired.
That win jumpstarted Mizzou, and it's carried over to SEC play.
The Tigers also showed some impressive resolve, bouncing back from a gut-wrenching 49-39 loss to LSU with a 38-21 victory over Kentucky in Lexington last Saturday.
QB Brady Cook has been the key to the offense, despite dealing with some questions from the Tiger faithful to begin the year. Cook leads a passing offense that ranks inside the top 10 in the country in efficiency, and he's making all the right decisions in the big moments.
Defensively, Missouri has been strong up front, which has led to a lot of effectiveness stopping the run. The issues have come in the secondary, which Jayden Daniels was able to exploit.
Getting pressure on Rattler to take some of the heat off of the secondary will be key in the matchup against the Gamecocks' offense.

South Carolina vs Missouri
Betting Pick & Prediction
Ultimately, I give a sizable advantage to both offenses in this matchup, and as a result, this is a clear over play for me.
Despite all of the Gamecocks' struggles, Rattler is playing very good football, and he will be able to lead some touchdown drives against a Missouri defense that struggles against the pass.
On the other side of the ball, Missouri's offense should be in for a massive day against a SC defense that has too many problems to list on one page.
Give me the over in a game that should have plenty of points and fireworks.
