Monday's National Championship between TCU and Georgia should have no shortage of scoring. With an over/under of 63, plenty of touchdowns are expected.
But who exactly will those touchdowns come from? Action Network's Gilles Gallant has an idea. With no Monday Night Football in the NFL this week, Gallant jumped over to the college football side of things to see where the touchdown value lies in the National Championship.
He came through with two anytime touchdown picks for TCU vs. Georgia, including a pick for both sides. One happens to be a Heisman Trophy finalist, while the other is an explosive wide receiver who can score from all over the field.
So, be sure to check out both of Gallant's anytime touchdown bets for the TCU vs. Georgia National Championship below.
QB Stetson Bennett (+160)
The starting quarterback for Georgia hasn’t been really known as a rushing threat in his Bulldogs tenure, but he’s taken off the kid gloves this past season.
Bennett recorded eight rushing touchdowns in 2022 and scored in the College Football Playoff semifinal on a three-yard touchdown, which came against arguably a superior rush defense in Ohio State.
The Horned Frogs defense opened a lot of eyes against Michigan with their ability to generate turnovers. But on paper, their run defense is Swiss cheese. They’ve given up 21 rushing scores this season with six of those going to quarterbacks. Three of those opposing quarterback touchdowns were scored in TCU’s last three games.
For anyone reading this who remembers popular cologne from the 1990s — “I’m a Stetson Man” in this game.
Pick: Stetson Bennett Anytime TD (+160 · DraftKings)
WR Taye Barber (+240)
Eleven touchdowns compared to five touchdowns. That’s the ratio of passing scores to rushing scores that Georgia has allowed this season.
So, if you’re going to take anyone with the Horned Frogs, you likely have to take a pass-catcher in this scenario. The good news is there’s a ton of value on TCU receiver Taye Barber.
The senior has been a rock-solid WR2 in this offense with WR1 Quentin Johnston receiving the most attention from opposing secondaries.
Barber has caught five touchdowns this season, including one in the Big 12 Championship and another in the CFP semifinal against Michigan. An encouraging factor for Barber is he’s caught touchdowns from short distances like a six-yarder against the Wolverines and has hauled in long bombs like when he caught 70-yard touchdowns against Oklahoma and West Virginia.
The Bulldogs defense is incredibly stout on the defensive line, and this game could get out of hand quickly. If the Horned Frogs are trailing in the second half, QB Max Duggan will have to air it out frequently to try and catch the Bulldogs off guard.
Pick: Taye Barber Anytime TD (+240 · DraftKings)
