Hunter was making his first start since suffering a shoulder injury against Kansas State that forced him to sit out the second half of Colorado’s eventual loss last weekend. But, according to Colorado, this week’s decision to keep Hunter out — with the Buffaloes up 28-7 at halftime — was made as a preventative measure.
Hunter had two catches for 17 yards and one solo tackle in Saturday’s win. The junior entered the game ranked third in the Big 12 in receiving yards (587 yards) with six touchdowns on 49 catches.
Since striking a pose against UCF, momentum for Hunter’s Heisman campaign has slowed over the past few weeks as he's battled injury. However, the wide receiver/cornerback still remains among the favorites to win the award, currently boasting the fourth-best odds (+600) at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward, who helped his case with a four-touchdown outing against Louisville on Saturday, leads the pack at BetMGM.
Hunter is looking to become just the second player to win the Heisman Trophy while playing both sides of the ball (Charles Woodson, 1997). Only five of the past 25 Heisman winners were non-quarterbacks — four were running backs and the other was a receiver.
