UAB is headed to the Bahamas Bowl where the Blazers will play Miami (OH), sources told Action Network.
UAB (6-6) became bowl-eligible Saturday after defeating Louisiana Tech. Miami (OH) (6-6) earned the Bahamas Bowl berth Tuesday with its 19-18 victory against Ball State. Before the Miami-Ball State game, the MAC announced the winner would play in the Bahamas Bowl.
Excluding the 2020 COVID-19 season, UAB is playing in its fifth consecutive bowl game. The previous four were under former head coach Bill Clark, who announced in June he was retiring because of chronic back issues. Clark was replaced by interim coach Bryant Vincent.
UAB won two of its final three games to earn its sixth bowl berth in school history.
Miami (OH) is making its fourth bowl trip in the past seven years under head coach Chuck Martin.
This will be the first meeting between the RedHawks and Blazers.
The Bahamas Bowl is the opening bowl of the postseason, with an 11:30 a.m. ET kickoff on Dec. 16 on ESPN. This marks the first matchup that has been set for the upcoming bowl season. The remaining 40 will be determined by Dec. 4.
