The game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday has been postponed because of extreme winter weather that has travel restrictions in place for western New York.
The NHL announced the game would be made up on Thursday with the Blackhawks already on the ground in Buffalo. With up to 18 inches of snow expected in the greater Buffalo area through Thursday, including 5-8 inches Wednesday night, city officials placed a ban on travel, forcing the league's decision to postpone the game.
So what happens if you already placed a bet on the game? It depends.
Betting policies for NHL games can be different depending on the sportsbook. For example, DraftKings voids bets if the game is not played on the scheduled day. On the other hand, FanDuel will void bets if it's not played within 48 hours.
The policies at BetMGM and Caesars state the game must resume within 24 hours of the original start time. Thursday's rescheduled Blackhawks vs. Sabres matchup is set for 7 p.m. ET, exactly 24 hours after Wednesday's original puck drop.
If you placed bets at DraftKings, you can expect the bet to be voided. If you placed bets at FanDuel, Caesars or BetMGM, it will likely stay.
