The Anaheim Ducks travel to the nation's capital to take on the Washington Capitals on Monday night.

The two teams last played on Nov. 16, which capped off an eight-game winning streak for Anaheim. Since then, the Ducks have faltered slightly, going 3-4-1. However, the Ducks have undoubtedly proven themselves to be playoff contenders despite being the preseason favorites to finish last in the Pacific Division.

Anaheim's offense and special teams is what's buoying the squad through a surprising run. The Ducks rank fifth in the NHL at full strength expected goals over the last 10 games. They also rank third overall at the power play and seventh in hockey at the penalty kill.

Meanwhile, the Capitals sit atop the Metropolitan Division after having been +525, fifth-best favorites to finish at the top before the season.

Washington is tied for the second-best goal differential in the NHL behind the Calgary Flames. The Capitals also rank number three overall in the NHL, according to Hockey Reference's Simple Rating System.

Despite this, the Capitals offense has slacked as of late. Over their last 10 games, they're 21st in the NHL in expected goals. They're also in the bottom half in total shots per game over their last 10.

With those factors in mind, let's see what The Action Network's models have to say about the total for this contest.

Ducks vs. Capitals Sharp Action, Big Money on Total

The sharps and wise guys love the under on this matchup.

The best price on the market as of Monday afternoon is with PointsBet, which is pricing this contest at under 6 goals (-115).

That's due in part to the Capitals' terrible offensive production as of late, as noted earlier. While the Ducks have been scoring at a solid clip, the Capitals' defense has been Washington's main asset this season and could stonewall Troy Terry and Co.

Evidently, bettors think that's more likely than not.

Sharps also think the market is overpricing how much a struggling Capitals offense can overcome a decent Ducks defense that's ranked slightly above-average.

PRO Report Pick: Under 6 (-115)
