We have a Central Division tilt as the sixth-place Winnipeg Jets travel to St. Louis to take on the second-place Blues. This is the fourth meeting between these two teams this season, and the Jets have won two of the first three games.
The most recent game featured a 4-1 Jets win in St. Louis. Can Winnipeg repeat the success, or will the Blues get revenge on home ice?
Can Hellebuyck Improve Upon Recent Woes?
The Winnipeg Jets enter this contest following Friday night's 5-2 road loss to the Islanders. This loss was just another disappointing road performance from the Jets, who have now lost 11 of their last 14 road games when priced as an underdog.
Projected starting goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will look to break his road woes against the Blues. Hellebuyck is just 1-10 in his last 11 starts as a road 'dog.
Hellebuyck's play continues to slide, to the tune of a troubling 0.866 save percentage and a 4.33 goals allowed average over his last six starts. However, all of the blame can not be on Hellebuyck. The defense in front of him has been dreadful all year.
This season, the Jets rank 26th in 5-on-5 expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA). A hot Blues offense is a tough spot for the Jets defense to get things right against on the road.
Blues Offense Thriving at Home
The Blues return home on the second half of a back-to-back following Saturday's 7-4 road win over the Nashville Predators. St. Louis will look to keep things rolling as a home favorite, a spot it has found success in this season.
The Blues are 14-4 over their last 18 home games as a favorite. Winnipeg is a good matchup for the Blues to keep that trend going, as St. Louis' hot offense should tee off on Winnipeg's struggling blue line.
Over their last 10 games, the Blues are averaging an impressive 3.9 goals scored per game.
Since Ville Husso got the start on the first half of the back-to-back, we should expect to see Jordan Binnington between the pipes for St. Louis.
Over his last six home starts when priced as the favorite, Binnington has gone 4-2. I think he'll keep It going against a Jets team that averages just 2.5 goals scored per game over its last six road games.
Jets vs. Blues Pick
The Blues are in a great revenge spot against the Jets in this matchup. I expect St. Louis to keep riding high following yesterday's impressive win over Nashville, against which the offense looked outstanding.
There is no doubt the Blues are well aware that the Jets are 2-1 against them this season, and I think St. Louis evens up the season series against their division foe.
If the Blues ML gets higher than (-150), I think that the 3-Way ML would be a fair play to make.
Pick: Blues -150
