Sunday's nightcap features the Central Division's sixth-place Winnipeg Jets traveling to Ottawa to take on the Atlantic Division's seventh-place Senators. This is the second meeting between these two teams this season as the Senators won the first matchup 5-2 just a few weeks ago.

Will we see another high-scoring affair between these two teams, or can the goaltenders perform better this time around?

Winnipeg's Attack Needs To Get Going

The Winnipeg Jets enter this contest amidst a disappointing four-game slide as their playoff hopes dwindle. Recently, the Jets have seen many low-scoring games as the offense has fallen apart.

There have been six or fewer total goals scored in four of Winnipeg's last six games. Over that stretch, Winnipeg is averaging just 2.5 goals scored per game.

While the offense has been a letdown, projected starting goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been brilliant between the pipes. Hellebuyck has allowed three or fewer goals in four of his last five starts, posting an excellent 0.926 save percentage over that stretch.

His outstanding goaltending should not come as much of a surprise as Hellebuyck currently ranks 11th amongst starting goaltenders in 5-on-5 goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (GSAx). Hellebuyck was not great last time out against Ottawa as he allowed four goals on 32 shots, however, I expect a bounceback performance from a very capable goaltender.

Fatigued Senators To Rely on Young Goaltender

The Ottawa Senators enter this contest on the second half of a back-to-back following Saturday night's game against the New York Rangers. We could see some tired legs from Ottawa's skaters as this game will be their third in the last four days.

Since they are on the second half of a back-to-back, we can expect Mads Sogaard to start between the pipes for Ottawa. Sogaard was brilliant in his one start this season as he stopped 27 of 29 shots, good for a 0.931 save percentage.

Ottawa has high hopes for the 6-foot-7 goaltender, who was its second-round draft pick in 2019. Sogaard has a good opportunity to put another great performance under his belt against a Winnipeg team that has struggled mightily to score recently.

The 21-year-old netminder will need to be sharp once again as he probably will not get much scoring help in front of him, especially against Hellebuyck. This season, Ottawa ranks just 22nd in the league in 5-on-5 expected goals per 60 minutes (xGF).

Jets vs. Senators Pick

These two offenses have really struggled recently, and with Hellebuyck in net for Winnipeg I would be shocked if Ottawa gets more than two in this matchup. That means we just need a good outing from Sogaard, but he is a good goaltending prospect and is capable of proving It in this game.

I would not play this under if it drops to 5.5 before puck drop.

Pick: Under 6 (-110, play to -120)
