The Edmonton Oilers hit the road to take on Minnesota Wild in Western Conference matchup part of Tuesday’s NHL action.

This will be the third meeting between these teams, with the Wild have won by three or more goals in each of the first two matchups.

So, will Minnesota dominate again or can Edmonton get revenge on the road? Let’s see where we can find some betting value ahead of this game.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers enter this contest having won 10 of their last 14 games, making this a perfect spot to sell high on them. Yes, Edmonton has won a bunch of games of late. However, almost all of them have been against non-playoff teams.

Of those 10 wins, seven came against non-playoff teams. Additionally, the four losses during that stretch were all against playoff teams.

Edmonton has taken advantage of a soft spot in its schedule, as its true colors should come out on the road against a very strong Wild team. Over their last 10 road games as the underdog, the Oilers have put together a 2-8 record.

Six of the eight losses have been by two goals or more, which is a trend I expect to continue in this matchup. It will be a tough task for this defensively weak team to suppress Minnesota's high-powered offense, as the Oilers rank just 22nd in the league in 5-on-5 expected goals against per 60 minutes.

Minnesota Wild

The Wild are in terrific form, having won 10 of their last 13 games. Over its last 15 games as a home favorite, Minnesota is 12-3 overall, with nine of the 12 victories coming by a margin of at least two goals.

Cam Talbot is the projected starting goaltender for Minnesota and has been in great form of late. Over his last eight starts, Talbot is 6-0-2 with a stellar 0.933 save percentage. Four of those six wins were by at least two goals.

Talbot and Minnesota appear to be peaking at the right time as well, which has been a long time coming as their metrics are strong both ways.

Currently, Minnesota ranks 16th in the league in 5-on-5 expected goals for per 60 minutes and second in 5-on-5 xGA per 60 minutes this season.

This game is extremely important for Minnesota since it has the same amount of points St. Louis does with just 11 games left on the schedule and will look to keep home-ice advantage in its first-round playoff matchup.

Oilers vs. Wild Pick

Minnesota has dominated this matchup over the past few seasons, winning five consecutive games against Edmonton and four of those victories coming by at least a two-goal margin. That said, I like that trend to continue, especially at the price we are getting on the odds.

Edmonton is good, but it’s not as good as its recent record suggests. On the flip side, Minnesota is peaking at the right time and has recorded wins against Colorado and Carolina over the past few weeks. And those are teams who much stronger than Edmonton.

Pick: Minnesota -1.5 (+165 | Play down to +150)
