The Winnipeg Jets host the Nashville Predators in a Central Division tilt on Tuesday night. Winnipeg has fared well in this matchup over the past couple seasons, winning four of the past five meetings.

Will the Jets take care of business once again, or can Nashville pull off the upset? Here's a look at the Predators vs. Jets odds, as well as my betting pick and prediction.

Nashville Predators

Juuse Saros is slated to take the crease for Nashville. Through 10 starts this season, Saros boasts a .911 SV% and a 2.73 GAA.

That success is likely to continue against Winnipeg, a team he has historically fared well against. Through 12 career starts against the Jets, Saros owns a stellar .932 SV% and a 2.33 GAA.

The one aspect of Predators hockey that is different this year is the improved play of the blue line, which is a product of the excellent efforts from the Roman Josi-Dante Fabbro and Ryan McDonagh-Alexandre Carrier pairings. At 5-on-5, Nashville ranks second in the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60).

The offense is also due for some positive regression as the Predators rank 12th in the league in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) at 5-on-5.

Nashville's expected positive regression offensively could come to fruition against the Jets and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who is slated to get the start between the pipes on Tuesday. It's been a tough start to the campaign for the usually strong netminder, who possesses a .892 SV% through 10 starts.

Now, I don't want to put all the blame on Hellebuyck as the defense allows him to get peppered with shots on a nightly basis. Additionally, Winnipeg's penalty kill has struggled and ranks 29th in the league, which could be an issue against a Predators' lineup that ranks 12th in power-play percentage.

Finally, the Jets rank lower than Nashville in expected goal differential per 60 minutes at 5-on-5.

Betting Pick & Prediction

I think that the market is a little inflated toward Winnipeg in this spot because of two reasons: home ice and its recent form. With that said, the Jets are just 2-2-1 at the Canada Life Centre this year and each of their past four wins have come against teams that failed to make the playoffs last year.

Nashville has the edge in net, defensively, on special teams and in the faceoff. That's more than enough for me to take a shot on the Predators at plus-money.
