The red-hot Rangers will renew their cross-Hudson rivalry by hosting the Devils on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
New York is 4-1-2 in its past seven games and is coming off a 5-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. The Devils had their three-game win streak snapped by the Boston Bruins 5-2 on Saturday.
Devils Continue to Be Surprise Team
The Devils have been one of the surprise teams of the early season, particularly since they've been without star center Jack Hughes, who will miss his 12th straight game due to a dislocated shoulder.
Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood should be back in the net for New Jersey on Sunday. Blackwood has the second-best save percentage of any goalie with at least 100 minutes played (.945) yet will be making just his fourth start of the season due to a heel injury.
New Jersey's 5-on-5 metrics have been good, as the Devils are in the top 10 in the NHL in high-danger-chance-for percentage (57.7), team save percentage (.931) and goals-for percentage (53.3). But despite a recent power-play binge, they have been done in by shoddy special teams as the Devils rank tied for 25th in penalty kill (75.0) and 25th in power play (15.0) and have allowed a power-play goal in five of their past seven games.

Rangers Forced to Change Goalies
The Rangers are rolling thanks largely to goalie Igor Shesterkin, who has the third-most high-danger saves in the NHL through 11 starts. However, Shesterkin was injured in New York's win over Columbus on Saturday, leaving Alexandar Georgiev as the likely starter for Sunday's game against the Devils.
Georgiev has struggled this season, with an .862 save percentage and 4.26 goals-against average in three games. But those numbers are largely due to his shoddy start where he allowed six goals on 39 shots in Edmonton on November 5. He has a .931 5-on-5 save percentage this season and has good career numbers against New Jersey, with a 4-2 career record.

Rangers vs. Devils Pick
The Rangers have been a thorn in the Devils' side over the past five seasons as New Jersey is just 9-13-2 against the Rangers since the 2016-17 season, including a 2-6 head-to-head record last season. They've had an especially difficult time winning at MSG with a 4-7-1 record in Manhattan over that span.
The Devils are improved, but the Rangers are rolling. If you're feeling frisky, take the puck-line. But New York should win, even despite the potential disparity in goal.
Pick: Rangers ML (-145)
