Action Network NHL betting analyst Nick Martin breaks down his top three plays for Sunday’s pair of Game 7 matchups.
Jake Guentzel Over 3.5 Shots On Goal -110 (Penguins vs. Rangers) (Play to -120):
Jake Guentzel has been an absolute monster season after season in the playoffs, and this year has been no different. He has managed seven goals and and two assists in the first six games of the series.
Guentzel has continued to cash this line consistently all series long, and it's hard for me to see how he won't remain heavily involved in Game 7. Excluding the overtime minutes in Game 1, Guentzel has averaged 5.16 shots per game in the series.
The Rangers have consistently had a hard time keeping the Penguins' top unit at bay in this series, and the unit has generated a ton of shot attempts game after game.
Even with Evgeni Malkin in Crosby's spot in Game 6, Guentzel put together eight attempts, and the unit looked strong with a 68% Expected Goals Rate and 22 combined attempts.
Whether Crosby plays or not, this is a play that holds value to -120.
Mika Zibanejad Over 2.5 Shots On Goal -125 (Penguins vs. Rangers) (Play to -135):
Mika Zibanejad broke through with his biggest performance of the series in Game 6, managing two goals, two assists, and six Shots On Goal in 19:06 of ice time.
Zibanejad should stay quite involved tonight, and even if he generates less than I am expecting at 5-on-5, he will always have several attempts on the power play from the top of the left circle.
Zibanejad has averaged 5.6 attempts on net per game in the series, and I think we have value backing him to manage three Shots On Goal in this Game 7.
Jake Oettinger Over 29.5 Saves -120 (Stars vs. Flames) (Play to -135):
Jake Oettinger has been simply spectacular in this series, and the Stars have really embraced a bend-but-don't-break style of play in front of goal. Even when the complete collapses happen, Oettinger has still come up with some excellent stops.
The result has been an average of 36.3 saves per game, and Oettinger has cashed this line in 4/6 games in the series. Calgary has altogether looked the better team in this series, and it's hard for me to imagine the Flames not generating a solid amount of chances on goal at home in this massive Game 7, forcing Oettinger to put together another high output of saves.
