We have a stacked 10-game slate of NHL hockey games Thursday, with an abundance of options to pick through on PrizePicks. Below, I give out five PrizePicks flex plays.
For those unfamiliar with PrizePicks flex plays, getting 5/5 correct registers a 10x payout, 4/5 correct registers a 2x payout, and 3/5 correct registers a 0.4x payout.
You can also take these plays and do smaller parlays with just two or three props for lower payouts.
What is PrizePicks? A daily fantasy operator — meaning they’re available in more states (30) than sports betting is! — PrizePicks offers a unique opportunity for action on player props in which you parlay two or more plays together.
Thursday NHL Props
Josh Norris — Over 3 Shots on Goal
The Ottawa Senators host the Nashville Predators, leading off the Thursday card for our picks. As Ottawa's leading goal scorer, Norris should get plenty of opportunities to get shots on net in this contest.
Norris has reached at least three shots on goal in each of his last five games and has a good matchup against Nashville, which ranks just 21st in the league in opposing shots on goal. Over their last six games, the Predators are allowing an average of 38.2 shots on goal.
I would not play this if the total jumps from 3 to 3.5.
Tyler Seguin — Over 0.5 Points
The Dallas Stars are hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs. Seguin has been playing excellent hockey of late, as he and the Stars look to hold onto the last playoff spot ahead of the postseason.
Seguin has achieved at least one point in seven of his last 11 games and has a good matchup against Toronto to keep it going. The Maple Leafs find themselves in high-scoring games every night, as they have excellent forwards, but a thin defense and brutal goaltending.
Jack Campbell is the projected starter in goal for Toronto and has allowed three or more goals in seven of his last eight appearances in the crease.
I would not play this if the total jumps from 0.5 to 1.
Auston Matthews — Under 0.5 Assists
While I discussed that Toronto has been involved in high-scoring games, it will have a difficult task scoring on Jake Oettinger. He has has been very sharp of late, conceding two or fewer goals in three of his last four starts.
This season, Oettinger boasts a 0.916 save percentage and ranks 11th amongst starting goaltenders in 5-on-5 goals saved above expected per 60 minutes. Dallas is a very difficult team to play against, ranking 11th in the league in 5-on-5 xGA per 60 minutes.
Alex Iafallo — Over 0.5 Points
We have a Pacific Division tilt, featuring the Los Angeles Kings hosting the Edmonton Oilers. Alex Iafallo has registered at least one point in four of his last eight games, and has a good matchup to keep it going against Edmonton.
The Oilers bleed goals, ranking 23rd in the league in 5-on-5 expected goals against per 60 minutes. Mike Smith is the projected starting goaltender for the Oilers and has yielded three or more goals in seven of his last 12 starts.
Iafallo patrols the first power-play unit, which should get good looks as the Oilers rank just 21st in the league in penalty kill percentage.
I would not play this if the total jumps from 0.5 to 1.
James van Riemsdyk — Over 2 Shots on Goal
We have a Metropolitan Division matchup, with the Philadelphia Flyers traveling to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets. James van Riemsdyk shouldn't have trouble getting to at least two shots on goal, as he has reached this mark in eight of his last 11 games.
He will have a good matchup going against Columbus, a team that ranks last in the league in opposing shots on goal. Philadelphia just played Columbus on Tuesday and registered 49 shots on goal, so getting shots should not be a problem in this contest.
I would still play this total if It jumps from 2 to 2.5.
