Very troubling is his last three starts. This level of performance indicates that he is highly likely to concede multiple runs to the Nationals' lineup, even though they’ve been underwhelming this season. On the flipside, Patrick Corbin has had nothing short of a disastrous season with a 5.92 ERA and 2-12 record. His susceptibility to big hits, including allowing 29 home runs in only 129.1 innings, further cements expectations that a team like the Rockies, who are accustomed to games with high scores, will eventually find the opportunity to score. In his last three starts, Corbin has pitched badly to the tune of a 6.28 ERA, and his home performance does very little to instill optimism as he carries almost an identical ERA of 5.80. The combination of these two starters suggests a game that could easily see multiple scoring opportunities early. In addition to this, the analysis of the bullpens shows neither team can afford to rely on its relief corps to help shut down the opposition late in the game. The ERA in the Rockies bullpen is at 5.59, including 196 earned runs allowed in 315.2 innings, suggesting that all the leads taken would lead to a bigger struggle in either case. Improved just slightly, with a 4.33 ERA, the Nationals bullpen has still shown the penchants for weakness, largely allowing baserunners with a 1.36 WHIP. This allows games to be given away all the way up the scoreboard, and with a weak bullpen, most probably the opponents' scoring may come up in bunches in the late innings. But the trend continues, as the umpire is Jordan Baker, and games umpired by Jordan Baker have a decided tendency to go "over" in games. Jordan Baker has a record of 15-7 Over/Under, and average scoring in a game called by Baker is 9.74 runs per contest. That makes Jordan Baker a vital cog in the machine to consider that the Over is a good play. At least he might provide just enough influence to one point, which would definitely favor the Over.
