San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers NBA Monday Preview

The Lakers return to the court tonight after having their last two games postponed due to the wildfires in Southern California. The Lakers will look to give their fans both a distraction and a victory amid the devasting situation. One silver lining is that the team is rested having last played last Tuesday. As a result, stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both probable for tonight's game.

The Lakers dropped their last two games to the Rockets and Mavericks. However, they have fared much better against the Spurs this season, taking the first two meetings. They enter tonight's game 2.5 games up on the Spurs in the Western Conference.

The Spurs will enter tonight's game rested, having last played on Wednesday. They will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak and avoid heading back to San Antonio with a winless road trip. They may get Jeremy Sochan back tonight after he missed the Bucks' game with a back injury. He is one of the Spurs' best defenders with a 108.9 individual defensive rating this season.

The Spurs may already have the league's best defender in Victor Wembanyama. A big favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, Wembanyama has a 107.2 defensive rating this season. He has pulled down 10 rebounds in each of his last four games and has blocked three shots in eight of his last 10 games.

Despite Wembanyama's presence, Davis may be in for a huge game. Davis has scored 25 points in seven of his last nine games against the Spurs. That includes games of 37 and 40 points since the Spurs drafted Wembanyama. Davis is averaging 25.8 points and 11.9 rebounds this season.

In his 22nd season, James continues to fill up the stat sheet as well. He is averaging 23.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.8 assists. James has 10 rebounds and eight assists in each of his past two games. He should benefit from San Antonio being 25th in rebounds allowed this season.

Spurs vs. Lakers Best Bets, Predictions

With two victories over San Antonio already this season, the Lakers have won three straight and eight of their last 10 games against the Spurs. Seven of those victories have come by five points or more. Another one would work for us tonight as the Lakers are 3.5-point favorites.

The Lakers have enjoyed playing at home this season and they may have a little more energy from their home crowd tonight. They are 12-5 at home straight up and 7-5 against the spread as a home favorite this season. With that in mind, I'll be backing the Lakers to get back in the win column and cover tonight.

As for the same-game parlay, we have already cashed on a parlay featuring James, Davis, and Wembanyama this season and I am going back to that well again. James has recorded 16 rebounds and assists in four of his last five games against San Antonio as well as his last two games overall. Expect a few of his assists to go to Davis, who will be in search of another 25-point against the Spurs. In their last four games, the Spurs have given up 25 points to Nikola Jokic (twice) and Giannis Antetokounmpo while Nikola Vucevic scored 24 himself.

Meanwhile, Wembanyama has 10 rebounds in all five of his career games against the Lakers as well as three blocks in three of them. These last two legs get this same-game parlay up to +525 on DraftKings.

Best Bet: Lakers -3.5

Lakers vs. Spurs Parlay Picks

  • Anthony Davis 25 Points
  • LeBron James Over 15.5 Rebounds + Assists
  • Victor Wembanyama 10+ Rebounds
  • Victor Wembanyama 3+ Blocks

Parlay Payout: +525 via DraftKings
